LAKE CHARLES- McNeese women's basketball will look to bounce back from its 78-54 Southland Conference opening loss at Northwestern State on Thursday when the Cowgirls continue its SLC opening weekend on the road at Texas A&M-Commerce this Saturday.  Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN+.  Bruce Merchant will call all the action on TalkRadio 1470.com.
 
McNeese (4-10, 0-1 SLC) will look to snap a three-game losing streak. The Cowgirls will enter the game leading the SLC in scoring, averaging 70.1 ppg., second in assists (14.4 apg.), and third in steals (9.29 spg.).
 
Emilia Tenbrock (12.9 ppg.) and Mireia Yespes (10.3 ppg.) are the only Cowgirls averaging in double figures.  Tenbrock leads the league with a 44.4 three-point field goal percent, ranks third with a 79.6 free throw percent, and sixth in scoring.  Yespes is second in the league with a 55.1 field goal percent.
 
Boston Berry, who is coming off a career night with 14 points and seven rebounds against NW State, leads the conference with 3.7 assist per game. 
 
Texas A&M-Commerce (5-6, 0-1 SLC) will also be looking for its first conference win after falling 88-77 at New Orleans on Thursday.  The Lions have also lost their last three games.
 
The Lions rank second in the league behind the Cowgirls with a 69.8 scoring average. Commerce leads the SLC with a 33.7 three-point field goal percent, having made 84 treys.  They also lead the SLC in rebounds (40.1 per game), and free throw shooting (72.8 percent).  
 
The Lions have four players averaging in double figures with Mary Delgado leading the way with 13.1 ppg.  Delgado is also dishing out 3.0 assists per game.  Mia Deck leads the team with 6.3 rpg.
