McNeese falls to Northwestern State in conference home opener

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese soccer fell to Northwestern State at Cowgirl Field in the conference home opener Friday night 4-1 as the Demons furthered their seven-match win streak.

The Pitch Side:
• Cass Romero earned her first goal of the season in the first minute of play.
• McNeese out shot NSU 14-13 with both squads earning six shots in the first half.
• Northwestern State earned six saves while Kelly earned three for the Pokes.
• The Pokes took six corners in the match compared to the Demons' one.
Jackie Kelly, Morgan Schooley, and Anouk Linders have each played 450 consecutive minutes.
Avery Baker played all 90 minutes on the pitch.
 
How It Happened:
• Cass Romero earned the first goal of the night just 46 seconds into the match off a free kick.
• Northwestern State's Emily Senatore tied it up at the 3:43 mark with the assist by Dawson Marrs.
• The Demons took the lead on Senatore's second goal in the eighth minute of play, assisted by Alina Graf.
• Jessica Spitzer scored her first goal at the 39:54 minute mark with Alina Graf earning another assist.
• Spitzer earned her brace at 56:22 in the final goal of the match for a 4-1 lead.
