Cowgirls return home to host Utah Tech at 1 on Saturday

LAKE CHARLES – Coming off a strong showing on the road at BYU in their last outing, the McNeese Cowgirls will return to the Legacy Center on Saturday afternoon when they host Utah Tech.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will broadcast on ESPN+. Fans with tickets to the Cowboys football game against Lamar can attend the game for free by showing your football game ticket.
 
McNeese (3-2) dropped an 85-64 game to BYU on Tuesday in a hard-fought game that saw the Cowgirls trail by only six points (41-35) at the half.
 
Arkansas State transfer forward Kiayra Ellis led the Cowgirls with 20 points in the contest behind a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range.
 
Ellis is second on the team in scoring with a 9.4 average. Mireia Yespes leads the team with a 10.6 mark as seven players are averaging six points or more on the season.
 
Utah Tech, a member of the WAC, is 2-3 on the year and dropped a 57-51 decision to Southland foe HCU on Thursday.
 
Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams as the Cowgirls are looking to remain unbeaten at home and go to 3-0.
 
Following Saturday's game, the Cowgirls will host St. Thomas (Texas) on Wednesday Thanksgiving Eve at 5:30.
