Javohn Garcia scored 21 points and
Sincere Parker 20 in making his Legacy Center debut as the duo paced six McNeese Cowboys to score in double-figures in a 111-57 win over the College of Biblical Studies in the home opener in front of 3,036 on Thursday night.
The win even McNeese's record to 1-1 while winning its 19
th-straight home game. The Cowboys will next visit No. 2-ranked Alabama on Monday night at 6 on the SEC Network.
Quadir Copeland scored 17 points while DJ Richards added 13,
Joe Charles 12, and
Bryant Selebangue 10.
Omar Cooper dished out a career-high 13 assists against just one turnover and led the team with a career-best eight rebounds.
McNeese shot 60 percent for the game (42-70) and knocked down 63 percent (23-37) in the second half. The Cowboys held a 45-28 advantage in rebounds and turned the ball over just 12 times, only three times in the second half.
The Cowboys never trailed and led 48-24 at the break. They used a 15-0 run early in the second half to grow the lead as Parker, who recorded his eighth career 20-point game, scored 12 of his points in the final 20 minutes.
CBS (0-2) was led in scoring by a 24-point performance from Frank Madubuku.
McNeese forced the Ambassadors into 22 turnovers on the night, scoring 31 points off the miscues. The Cowboys also finished with 27 assists on 42 made buckets.
Richards and Garcia accounted for six of McNeese's 10 three-pointers as each sank three. The Cowboys finished 10 of 30 from behind the arc for the night.
