BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas - McNeese baseball (0-1) fell to eighth-ranked Texas A&M (1-0) 15-0 Friday night in the season opener at Blue Bell Park.
"The best thing about tonight is it only counts as one game and we play again tomorrow," said head coach
Justin Hill. "They're a really talented team and they took advantage of our mistakes. I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond the rest of the weekend."
Braden Duhon led the way for the Cowboys as the senior batter collected the lone hit of the night while not striking out once.
Senior
Zach Voss made the start on the mound donning the McNeese blue and remained on the mound for 2.1 innings, facing 15 batters. His successor
Evan Maldonado, a junior, pitched 2.1 innings as well, throwing 74 pitches against 18 at the plate.
Kainin Morrow, a senior, entered the game with two outs in the fifth and saw a ground out to get started. He pitched 2.1 innings as well in keeping with the trend and finished with a 0.00 ERA on the night against 10 batters. Redshirt junior
Clay Kennedy closed out the matchup with an inning pitched.
Defensively, the blue and gold didn't allow an error in the outing to have a perfect fielding percentage on the night.Â
The Cowboys return to action on the diamond tomorrow at 2 p.m. as they rematch against the Aggies.
