SB: Alexis Dibbley Notches First Collegiate Win In Run-Rule Victory Over Niagara

LAKE CHARLES— Freshman pitcher Alexis Dibbley notched her first collegiate win Saturday in a 12-3, five inning run-rule win over Niagara in the final game of the Cowgirl Classic II.

Dibbley (1-0) allowed eight hits, struck out four and walked two in the complete game.  She was also productive at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple and her first career homerun on a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning that gave McNeese the 3-1 lead.  McNeese added two more runs in the inning on a double by Rylee Eyster to lead 5-1.

McNeese (10-4) added a single run in the second on a RBI triple by Dibbley that scored Crislyne Moreno.

After two scoreless innings, McNeese broke the game open with six runs on two hits including a bases clearing double by Moreno that put the Cowgirls up 11-3.  Corine Poncho ended the game with a solo homerun to straightaway centerfield, her ninth long ball of the season.

McNeese collected nine hits, six of which were extra base hits.  Dibbley, Moreno and Poncho all picked up two hits apiece.  Dibbley and Moreno led the Cowgirls with three RBI apiece.

The Cowgirls will travel to Houston next Wednesday for a single game then will take part in the LSU Purple & Gold Challenge next weekend with games against San Diego State, Illinois, Louisiana Tech, and two games against LSU.
