LAKE CHARLES-- After making program history with its first win on Friday against Tarleton State, McNeese beach volleyball was hoping build on that win on the final day of the Cowgirl Beach Bash Saturday.
Unfortunately, the Cowgirls weren't able to pick up a win , falling 5-0 to No. 20 ranked Cal Poly before dropping a highly contested 3-2 match to Nicholls to end tournament play.
McNeese (1-3) dropped all five pairs in straight set as Cal Poly improved to 5-0 with the win.
In the final match of the tournament, the Cowgirls and Colonels battled until the final point, but it was the Colonels who pulled out the victory.
With the match tied at two sets apiece, Nicholls' Tierney Terrell and Carleigh Breaux picked up a 2-1 (21-17, 16-21, 15-11) win at pair five for the deciding point to win the match.
McNeese will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas next weekend to take part in the Stephen F. Austin Tournament.
