LAKE CHARLES – McNeese softball, coming off a 6-5 (13 inn.) road win at Houston Wednesday night to extend its winning streak to six games will head to Baton Rouge this weekend to take part in the LSU Purple & Gold Challenge Friday-Sunday.
McNeese (11-4), who received votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll for the third straight week, will open tournament play against San Diego State at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday's schedule has the Cowgirls taking on Illinois at 12 p.m. and No. 4/5 LSU at 7:30 p.m. McNeese will conclude its week with a 12:30 p.m. game against La. Tech then will face LSU again at 3 p.m. Sunday.
