WBB: Cowgirls Look To End Several Streaks At HCU Thursday

LAKE CHARLES-  Two things are for sure come Thursday evening when McNeese women's basketball travels to Houston Christian for a 6 p.m. Southland Conference game, the first of two meetings this season.  One team will pick up its first Southland Conference game of the season and will snap its losing streak.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard live on TalkRadio1470 AM with Bruce Merchant calling all the action.
 
For the Cowgirls (4-19, 0-10 SLC), besides its winless conference record and a 12-game losing streak, McNeese will also be looking for is first Division I win and first road win of the season.
 
HCU (5-16, 0-10 SLC) will be looking to snap a 10-game losing streak and will look to pick up its fifth home win of the season.  The Huskies enter the game 4-4 at home this season.
 
McNeese is coming off an 80-69 road loss at league leading Southeastern last Saturday while the Huskies fell 52-50 at Nicholls last Saturday.
 
COWGIRL NOTES
• McNeese continues to rank second in the SLC in scoring (66.7 ppg.) but are giving up the most points (81.5) per game.
• McNeese ranks fourth in steals (8.4) , three-point FG% (29.0) and free throw % (71.0), fifth in assists (12.4), 3-pt. FG Made (5.2), and 7th in field goal percent (38.2), and 8th in rebounding (36.7)
• Emilia Tenbrock leads the SLC in scoring (15.7 ppg.) and 3-point field goal percent (45.0), ranks second in free throw percent (87.0), and fifth in 3-point field goals per game (1.6)
• Mireia Yespes is also averaging in double figures with 10.6 ppg. Yespes ranks third in the SLC with a 51.0 field goal percent.
• Julia Puente leads the Cowgirls in rebounds (5.3 rpg.)
• Boston Berry leads McNeese and ranks fourth in the SLC with 3.2 assists per game
