LAKE CHARLES— McNeese women's tennis will open Southland Conference play on Saturday when the Cowgirls travel to New Orleans to face UNO in a 1 p.m. match. The Cowgirls will also travel to Thibodaux on Monday for a 2 p.m. match at Nicholls.
McNeese (11-1) will carry a nine-match winning streak which is tied for the longest in program history to New Orleans where the Cowgirls are 61 in road matches this season. Its only blemish on the year was a 5-2 loss at Tulane on Jan. 20. As a team, the Cowgirls have only loss nine sets (48-9) so far.
Freshman
Anastasija Adeikyte leads the team with an undefeated 10-0 singles record having played matches at the No. 1-4 spots. Adeikyte and
Arina Gamretkaia are 11-1 as the Cowgirls' top doubles team.
Several Cowgirls have just one loss in singles on the year.
Emma-Lou Pommiers (9-1),
Tiana Fox (7-1), Gamretkaia (6-1),
Ariane Monlleo Sanchis and Maria Martinez Wang are both 5-1 on the year. Fox and
Aina Domingo-Bernabeu are 6-1 in doubles.
UNO (1-3) has had four matches postponed this season. The Privateers are coming off a 4-2 loss against UL-Lafayette on Tuesday
