MONROE--  McNeese beach volleyball ended the Louisiana-Monroe Bayou Bash with a 4-1 Southland Conference opening win over Nicholls Saturday afternoon.
 
The Cowgirls ended tournament play with a 1-3 record but more importantly they picked up their first Southland Conference win in program history.  The Cowgirl losses were against UL-Monroe and Texas A&M-Kingsville by the score of 3-0 in both matches Friday. 

Friday's matches were played to decision (first team to reach three wins) due to weather earlier in the day that caused tournament play to be altered. 

McNeese dropped its opening match 5-0 to Missouri State on Saturday before ending tournament play with its win over Nicholls.
 
Nicholls took a 1-0 lead by winning flight 4 in straight sets before the Cowgirls won the next four with pair 5 (Jolie Savoie/Nadia Manitzas) clinching the match with their three set (16-21, 23-21, 16-14) win over Tierney Terrell and Carleigh Breaux.
