LAKE CHARLES – McNeese softball will step out of Southland Conference action and will travel to Mobile, Alabama Tuesday for a single game at South Alabama. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
McNeese (19-13) has won five of its last six games and are coming off its SLC home opening series sweep against Incarnate Word last weekend picking up a 4-3 win in the series opener before clinching the series by taking Saturday's doubleheader 3-0 and 11-6.
South Alabama (17-11-1) is coming off a Sun Belt road series sweep at UL-Monroe where the Jaguars opened the series with a 1-0, 10-2 doubleheader win before clinching the sweep with a 5-4 (13 inning) game on Sunday. The Jaguars have wins over Notre Dame, UAB, Southeastern, No. 17 South Carolina, No 10 Alabama, and Arkansas with their tie coming against No. 15 Arizona.
The Jaguars lead the series 8-4, having won the last two meetings by shutting out the Cowgirls including a 3-0 win in Lake Charles last season.
The Cowgirls will enter the game ranking sixth in the nation in double plays per game (0.63) and have turned 20 double plays this season.
