SB: Cowgirls Host Sam Houston In Midweek Contest Wednesday

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese softball returns home to host Sam Houston in midweek game Wednesday at 6 p.m. then will host Houston Christian in a Southland Conference series this weekend. 

McNeese (29-15, 14-1 SLC) is on the verge of winning its 30th game for the seventh time under head coach James Landreneau.  The one year McNeese didn't win 30 games under Landreneau was in 2020 (COVID year).

The Cowgirls have won 14 of its last 16 games and are coming off a SLC series road sweep against Texas A&M-Commerce.

Freshmen Samantha Mundine (.343) and Alexis Dibbley (.333) lead the Cowgirls in batting average.  Mundine also has a team high 46 hits.  Corine Poncho leads with 15 homeruns, 33 RBI, 38 runs scored, and 23 walks.

Shaelyn Sanders leads the pitching staff with a 2.08 ERA, wins (14-7), innings pitched (134.2) and strikeouts (100).

Sam Houston (16-25) will make a stop at Houston Christian Tuesday evening to face the Huskies before Wednesday's game against the Cowgirls.
