2024 SLC Tournament Bracket

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis will enter this weekend's Southland Conference single elimination tournament in San Antonio, Texas as the No. 2 seed, its highest seed since 2018 when the Cowgirls were the No. 1 seed after winning the programs only regular season title.  Live scoring will be provided for all matches.

McNeese (18-3) will face No. 10 seed Nicholls (7-13) at 2 p.m. Friday.  The Colonels defeated No. 7 seed Southeastern 4-1 Thursday morning to advance to the second round.  The Cowgirls defeated the Colonels 6-1 during the regular season in Thibodaux on March 9.  Nicholls holds a 3-0 SLC Tournament record over McNeese.  The match will be the first time the teams will face each other in tournament play since 2015 when Nicholls picked up a 4-3 win in the semifinals that year.

A McNeese win on Friday would advance the Cowgirls to the semifinals and they would play the winner of No. 3 NJIT or No. 6 Northwestern State at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The championship match is scheduled for 10 a.m., Sunday, April 21 with the winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

McNeese heads into the tournament having won 16 of its last 18 matches of the season, having lost its final two regular season matches on the road at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and at Incarnate Word.  TAMU-CC won the regular season title and is the tournament's No. 1 seed. UIW is the No. 5 seed.

The Cowgirls' 18 wins this season ties the most single season wins with the 1984 and 2005 teams and the 16-match winning streak during the season is also the longest in program history.

Six All-SLC performers will lead the Cowgirls into the weekend including "Newcomer of the Year" Arina Gamretkaia and "Freshman of the Year" Anastasija Adeikyte. Also named to the All-SLC team earlier Thursday was Maria Wang Martinez (1st team), Ariane Monlleo Sanchis (2nd team) and Tiana Fox and Aina Domingo-Bernabeu (1st team doubles).
