LAKE CHARLES, La. –
Conner Westenburg's perfect day at the plate helped McNeese Baseball cruise by Alcorn 11-4 at Joe Miller Ballpark Wednesday afternoon. The Cowboys improved their record to 15-12, 1-2 SLC while dropping the Braves down to 2-20, 2-7 SWAC with the sweep.

Westenburg, a junior, batted a perfect 4-for-4 on the day, earning four RBIs in the process and crossing home twice himself. He was one of three batters to have a multi-hit performance, joined by seniors
Braden Duhon at 3-for-5 and
Cooper Hext at 2-for-5.

McNeese kicked off the game strong with a four-run first inning followed up by two more in the second for an early 6-1 lead. Alcorn scored one run in the first and two in the third to cut into the lead.

After the scoreboard remained quiet for a few innings, the Pokes struck again in the sixth with a solo run by Westenburg following a leadoff double. Poke Nation piled on four more runs over the next two innings while the Braves scored one for the 11-4 McNeese advantage.

Senior
Brock Barthelemy threw a season-high 3.1 innings and four strikeouts en route to collecting his second victory of the season. Barthelemy didn't allow a single hit in the performance nor a walk.

Evan Maldonado, a junior, also collected a career-high four K's in the performance over 2.2 innings.

McNeese returns to conference play against Lamar Friday through Sunday, April 5-7 on the road in Beaumont, Texas.
