LAKE CHARLES, La. –
Zach Voss' near complete game helped propel McNeese Baseball to a series-opening victory over Houston Christian 6-2 at Joe Miller Ballpark Friday night to extend a five-game winning streak. The squad has won seven of their last nine games.

The Cowboys rise to a 26-22, 9-10 SLC record on the season as the Huskies drop to 15-29, 6-13 in Southland play.

Voss threw eight innings for the Pokes for the longest outing of the squad this season in his final start of his senior campaign at The Jeaux. He earned two strikeouts, not allowing a single walk while permitting just six hits.

McNeese saw seven different members of the team collect a hit as senior
Braden Duhon led the Pokes with two hits on the night. Duhon drove in one of three runs scored in the third inning on an RBI single.

The Cowboys further continue to build upon their offense as they have plated at least six runs in seven consecutive games dating back to April 23.

In the third inning, senior
Cooper Hext collected his sixth triple of the season and 13
th of his four-year career. Hext moved up to being tied for the second-most triples in a career by a Cowboy while also entering the weekend 12
th in the nation in the category.

Both squads return to the ballpark Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. with game two beginning about 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Senior Day will be celebrated prior to both games.
