LAKE CHARLES, La. – Head coach
Drew Fitzgerald announced the newest addition to the McNeese soccer staff in Jade Dewbre as an assistant coach for the Cowgirls starting July 2024.
Â
"I'm thrilled to be able to add Jade to our staff," said Fitzgerald. "Her references universally praised her professionalism, out-going personality and willingness to take on any task. She has worked with every line on the field and has playing experience in both Junior College and Division I. That experience gives her immediate credibility with our players, and I know we'll be able to use her experiences to strengthen our program."
Â
Dewbre joins the Pokes after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Seminole State College for two years. While there, she focused her efforts on working with the forwards and goalkeepers primarily, assisting the Trojans to a 38-5-1 record over those two years. The squad worked its way up to being ranked third in the 2022 campaign and second in 2023 in season.
Â
She served as a head coach for the Texas A&M summer sessions in 2023 and 2024 as one of many coaches to assist in the large camps in both sessions. She helped oversee many of the participants as well by working in the dorms when not performing coaching duties.
Â
Dewbre earned her Associates of General Studies at Angelina College where she played as a freshman and sophomore, appearing in 27 matches with 26 starts en route to score 23 goals with seven assists. She tallied three game-winning goals during her tenure as a Roadrunner. She earned NJCAA Women's First Team All-Region XIV recognition in 2019.
Â
Dewbre furthered her collegiate career at Sam Houston where she earned her Bachelor of Sciences in Sociology with a minor in Kinesiology. She played in 32 matches, collecting nine starts, while scoring two goals and earning four assists.
Â
"Beyond her achievements, it was clear from our first conversation that she as going to be a great fit," praised Fitzgerald. "You can hear her smile and enthusiasm even over the phone. Her passion for not only soccer, but for working with players and building those relationships was evident."
Â
She also spent time with the Dynamos Select Soccer Club and Dash Select Youth Soccer Club as both a youth coach and an assistant coach.
Â
Fitzgerald concluded by saying, "Along with coaching responsibilities, Jade will handle many of our operations details and head up our junior college recruiting efforts. We took our time in making this hire because our previous assistant was such an asset to the program that we knew we had to find the right fit to replace her. I believe we've found that in Jade and couldn't be more excited about starting a new season with her on our team."
Â
Dewbre is a native of Dallas, Texas before later moving to Houston where she attended Langham Creek High School as a four-year starter in soccer.
