VB: Cowgirls Fall To South Alabama...Tillman named to all-tournament team

MOBILE, Ala.--  McNeese volleyball ended play at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational Sunday with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-19) loss to host South Alabama to fall to 2-0 on the season.
 
Senior libero Bailey Tillman was named to the all-tournament team after collecting a total of 18 digs for the tournament for an average of 2.57 per set.  Tillman opened the season with 12 against Texas A&M on Saturday and ended the tournament with six against South Alabama.

Kayla Wilson was the only Cowgirl to record double figure kills with 10
• Freshman Corynne Hausler saw her first collegiate playing time
Megan Grose led the Cowgirls with a .667 hitting percent along with 16 assists

Set 1

• South Alabama took an early 8-2 lead then extended the lead to 13-8
• McNeese went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to two (22-20) before the Jaguars would close the set by winning three of the final five points
 
Set 2
• The Jaguars took the early 5-2 lead
• McNeese scored six straight points to lead 8-5
• With the set tied at 13, South Alabama scored four straight points to lead 16-13
• South Alabama went on another scoring run to extend its lead to 23-16 before taking a two set lead
 
Set 3
• For the third straight set, South Alabama took the early lead, jumping out to an 8-4 lead then extended it to 12-6
• Four straight points by McNeese pulled the Cowgirls to within two (12-10)
• A service ace by Corynne Hausler tied the set at 14
• The Cowgirls stayed within two points of the Jaguars trailing 21-19 but South Alabama ended the match on a 4-0 run
 
UP NEXT
• McNeese will conclude its road trip with a stop in Baton Rouge on Monday to face Southern at 11 a.m.
