McNeese falls to Southeastern in conference opener



HAMMOND – McNeese soccer fell to Southeastern in its conference opener at Strawberry Stadium 1-0 Sunday night.

The Pitch Side:
• The Lady Lions attempted 12 shots with six on goal while the Pokes attempted four with one on target.
• Jackie Kelly, Morgan Schooley, and Anouk Linders each played all 90 minutes of the match.
• Dom Ducal took two shots with Isabelle Smith and Salma Elhaimer each attempting one.
• Elhaimer played 65 minutes off the bench with Mandi Boudreaux earning 52.
• Smith attempted the shot on goal for the Cowgirls.
• Jackie Kelly earned five saves in the effort.
• Three freshmen started in the blue and gold for McNeese.
 
How It Happened: 
• Southeastern netted its lone goal of the match in the 41st minute of play to take a 1-0 lead. Hannah McCord netted the goal while Sara Bancevic was credited with an assist.
• Salma Elhaimer attempted the lone shot for the Pokes in the first half.
• Seven Cowgirls played the entire first half compared to eight Lady Lions.
• McNeese and Southeastern remained scoreless in the second period.
