VB: Cowgirls Travel To NW State Wednesday

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball (5-13, 1-5 SLC) will split its two Southland Conference matches this week, both on the road and at home.  The Cowgirls will travel to Natchitoches to take on Northwestern State (1-19, 0-6 SLC) for a rare Wednesday match.  First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.  The match will stream on ESPN+.
 
McNeese will return home on Saturday, Oct. 18 to host East Texas A&M in an 11 a.m. match, the first of three straight home matches.

McNEESE NOTES
• Coming off home losses to Lamar and Stephen F. Austin last week
• Saturday's match will be the start of three straight home matches and five of the last six home matches
• McNeese opened the SLC schedule with its first four matches on the road
• McNeese's lone conference win to this point was a 3-2 road win at New Orleans on Sept. 27.
• Head coach Sasha Karelov is in her fourth season with the Cowgirls and is one win shy of 50 career wins.
D'Nari Mills continues to lead the team with 174 kills and is second on the team with 159 digs
Kayla Wilson is second on the team with 172 kills and has recorded double figure kills in the last five matches including a season high 22 kills against Lamar on Oct. 9.  Wilson ranks second in the SLC with 4.10 kills per set in conference matches.
Ava Henry leads the team with a .265 hitting percent and is third on the team in kills (140) and second in blocks (34).
Kinga Ziolkowska leads the team in assists (352) and service aces (16)
Jordan Gamble leads the team with 38 blocks.
• McNeese returns three players from last season (seniors Kayla Wilson and Lauren Fuller and sophomore Corynne Hausler).
• The 2025 Cowgirl roster consists of 15 newcomers including eight freshmen.
 
ABOUT NORTHWESTERN STATE
• Are coached by McNeese former assistant coach Ben Kaszeta
• Are 1-19 overall and 0-6 in the SLC
• Lone win of the season was a 3-2 win over Tennessee State in its season opener
• Have lost 16 of its 20 matches in straight sets
• Have not won a set in the last nine matches
