Lake Charles, La. – McNeese Cowgirl soccer freshman Alexandra Arvanitis has earned an international call-up to represent the Slovenian U19 National Team in the upcoming UEFA Euro U19 qualifiers, taking place November 20 through December 3.
"I am proud of my Slovenian family and heritage and am honored to represent this amazing country on the soccer pitch," said Arvanitis.
In her debut season with the Cowgirls, the freshman defender played a key role in the back line, logging 1,407 minutes across 19 matches, including 16 starts. Arvanitis helped anchor a defensive unit that recorded two shutout performances this season against Southern and UTRGV and contributed offensively with six shots, two of which were on goal.
"We're incredibly proud of Alex," said Interim Head Coach Juan Yepes. "Her call-up to the Slovenia national team for the Euro qualifiers is a testament to her work ethic, growth, and commitment to the game."
Yepes added, "For our program, this is a meaningful milestone. As a freshman, Alex earned significant minutes, and we're proud to have supported her development along the way. This achievement is entirely her merit, and we're excited to see her continue to rise."
