LAKE CHARLES—The
Ayla Guzzardo era got off to a fast-pace Monday morning in a McNeese women's basketball season opening 100-38 win over Pensacola Christian College in its annual Education game with 2,924 fifth graders and fans in attendance.

The attendance is the fourth highest women's basketball attendance in a game played at the Townsley Law Arena.

Senior
Arianna Patton, who led all players with a career high 19 points, was one of three Cowgirls to score in double figures. Patton played a little over 17 minutes and ended the game 7 of 13 from the floor including 5 of 10 from behind the arc. The five three-pointers made is also a career high for Patton.

Freshman
Dakota Howard, in her first collegiate game, added 14 points while senior
Allasia Washington chipped in with 10 points. Both Patton and Howard were in double figures at halftime.

Senior Jalencia Pierre dished out a career high 11 assists and tied her career high with six steals.

Carley Hamilton led the Cowgirls in rebounds with seven apiece.

McNeese will travel to Alabama on Thursday, Nov. 6 for a 6 p.m. game that will stream on SECN+.

- Patton got things started five seconds into the game when she hit her first three-pointer of the game on the Cowgirls first possession.
- McNeese scored the first five points of the game
- McNeese led 39-5 after the first quarter

- McNeese continued to extend the lead and outscored the Eagles 20-8 in the quarter to lead 59-13.
- Patton and Howard reached double figures in the half with 12 and 10, respectively
- McNeese shot 45.8 percent from the field, 47.1 from 3-point range, and 87.5 from the free throw line in the half.

- Pensacola Christian College outscored the Cowgirls 16-15 in the quarter
- McNeese was 5 of 17 from the field, 1 of 5 from 3-point range, and 4 of 5 from the free throw line in the quarter

- The Cowgirls ended their scoring by outscoring the Eagles 26-9 in the final period, hitting the century mark on a turnaround jumper by
Tyreona Sibley with 2:03 left in the game.
