LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis head coach
Sonia Carlson released the 2026 schedule Thursday that includes nine home matches, five of which are Southland Conference matches.
"This Spring 2026 schedule is one we're really looking forward to," said head coach
Sonia Carlson. "Returning our entire lineup from last year gives us a strong foundation, and this group includes some of the toughest competitors in the conference.
"The fall was extremely productive, and the growth we saw across the roster has me excited to carry that momentum into the spring with a more experienced, confident, and feisty team. We get to host some of our toughest conference matches at home this season, and we can't wait for our fans to feel the energy and competitiveness these Cowgirls bring to the courts."
McNeese will begin its season with two consecutive home matches both being played on the same day. Alcorn and UT-Tyler will come to Lake Charles on Jan. 25 and Lubbock Christian will visit the Cowgirls on Jan. 31 following a Jan. 30 match at Sam Houston to close out the month of January.
The Cowgirls will be on the road for the entire month of February and the first two days in March. The Cowgirls will play Oral Roberts and Collin College in Stephenville, Texas on Feb. 7 and Tarleton State on Feb. 8. McNeese will conclude its Texas road trip with a Feb. 9 match at Abilene Christian.
After an 11-day break, McNeese will play three matches in three days starting with a Feb. 20 match at Southern Miss. The Cowgirls will then travel to Jackson State (Feb. 21) before ending its road trip with a match at Southern on Feb. 22.
The Cowgirls will play five Southland Conference matches on its home court (Nancy Hank Tennis Center) this season. McNeese opens SLC action on the road at Lamar (Feb. 28) and at Incarnate Word (March 2).
McNeese will host the three-time reigning SLC regular season champions Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Mar. 7) in its SLC home opener, the first of four straight SLC home matches.
The Cowgirls will also host UTRGV (Mar. 9), Northwestern State (Mar. 21), Stephen F. Austin (Mar. 23), and Southeastern (Apr. 4) in SLC matches and will travel to Nicholls, and UNO for its final two SLC road matches.
While in New Orleans for its SLC match at UNO on March 30, the Cowgirls will also play a non-conference math at Dillard.
McNeese will return home on April 4 to host Southeastern in its final regular season match against Southeastern before closing out the regular season with a non-confrence match against UL-Lafayette on Apr. 9 in preparation for the SLC Tournament (Apr. 19-21). The SLC Tournament will be held in Beaumont, Texas and hosted by Lamar.
