ANN ARBOR, Michigan – Michigan showed its worthiness of being the nation's No. 1 team (coaches poll) on Monday night against McNeese as the Wolverines posted a 112-71 win over the visiting Cowboys in front of a sell-out crowd and in the final non-conference game of the season for McNeese.

McNeese saw its four-game winning streak come to an end and falls to 10-3 on the season while Michigan improved to 12-0. The Cowboys will return home on Friday night at 6 when they host Lamar in a game that will broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Net.

Four Cowboys scored in double-figures, led by
Garwey Dual with 15 points.
Larry Johnson added 14 with a team-high seven rebounds.
Tyshawn Archie added 12 and
DJ Richards Jr. scored 11.

Michigan was led by Morez Johnson Jr. with 24 points. All-American Yaxel Lendeborg scored 16, Trey McKenney and Aday Mara with 13 each, Nimari Burnett 12, and Roddy Gayle Jr. 10.

The Wolverines sank 59% from the field (37-63) and 30% from long range (7-23) while McNeese shot just 30% (23-78) and 24% from behind the arc (8-34). Michigan got to the free throw line 45 times, making 31 while McNeese was 17 of 24 with only two of those attempts coming in the first half.

Michigan led 60-29 at the half after out-shooting McNeese 40% to 17% from the field. The Wolverines had two players in double-figures by the half, Johnson Jr. with 13 and Lendeborg with 11.

The Wolverines took advantage of 17 Cowboys' fouls in the half and out-scored McNeese 20-2 at the free throw line. Michigan attempted 27 to McNeese's 2.

Michigan scored the first seven points of the game and led 24-14 with 11:24 to play before pulling away. A bucket by Dual made it 27-16 with 10:12 left then Michigan went on an 11-2 run to build a 20-point lead with 7:26 to go.

McNeese followed with five straight points – a 3 by
DJ Richards Jr. then Johnson with a layup to cut the margin to 38-23 with 6:11 on the clock. An 11-0 run by Michigan made it a 53-25 game with 2:17 remaining in the half.

Michigan opened the second half scoring the first 16 points before the Cowboys got a free throw from Johnson at the 16:31 mark.

• Michigan is the first No. 1 team for McNeese to face in school history.
