Spring football Day 1 gets off to solid start

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese football, under the guidance of a familiar face and new head coach Matt Viator, took to The Hole on Tuesday afternoon for the first of 15 spring practices that will cover the next six weeks, leading up to the April 12 spring game.

The Cowboys worked on the install of a new system, which Viator claims he's expecting mistakes but certain his team will bring the attitude and effort every day.

McNeese will practice again on Thursday at 3:45 and Saturday at 9:45 in Cowboy Stadium the remainder of the week and will keep a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday schedule the entire spring.

Scrimmages are set for March 29, April 5 and April 12.
