HAMMOND – McNeese baseball (17-5, 8-4 SLC) claimed its second consecutive victory over Southeastern (18-5, 7-2 SLC) 7-1 in Sunday's rubber match at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The Cowboys clinched the series 2-1 for its fourth consecutive regular-season series victory against the Lions and third conference series of the season.

Senior
Parker Morgan recorded his first start of 2025, throwing five innings while earning six strikeouts en route to his first victory as a Poke. Freshman
Diego Corrales closed out the last four innings on the mound, striking out eight batters, not permitting a single hit on his way to recording his first collegiate save.

Offensively, eight of McNeese's nine starters recorded at least one hit with three earning multiple in the rubber match.
Cole Plowman, a senior, earned his first hits of the season, going 3-for-4 at the plate, just a triple away from the cycle.

After a pair of scoreless innings, the Cowboys struck again in the fifth for a 3-0 advantage as Plowman crossed home plate on an RBI fielder's choice. Senior
Marcus Heusohn drove in the fourth run of the game on an RBI double as senior
Conner Westenburg reached home. The Lions plated their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run.

The offense continued to power on in the sixth inning as Plowman earned his first home run of the season to drive in himself and Dowell who sat on first.

By taking the series, it marks the second consecutive weekend the Cowboys have come back from losing in the series opener to claim the latter two games. McNeese outscored Southeastern 17-16 on the weekend.

McNeese returns home to Joe Miller Ballpark for a pair of midweek games against Southern at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Dillard 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
