LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis picked up a clean sweep Southland Conference 7-0 match win over Lamar Sunday to improve to 16-4 overall and 3-2 in the SLC.  Lamar fell to 3-15 overall and 0-5 in conference play. 
 
The win marks the first time a first year McNeese head coach (Sonia Carlson) picks up at least 16 wins in a season.  Former head coach Gabby Moore picked up 15 (15-6) in her first season as the Cowgirls head coach in 2023.
 
McNeese won the double points to get off to a 1-0 start then cruised through the singles matches by winning all six matches in straight sets.
 
Salome Fluri (17-2) and Erica Hagi (7-5) remained undefeated in conference matches, both improving to 5-0 with the win. 
 
Fluri defeated Arina Gudovskaya 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles and Hagi defeated Asta Miettinen 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
 
The Cowgirls will host Nicholls next Saturday, April 5 and New Orleans on Monday, April 7 in their final two home matches of the season.
 
McNeese will close out the regular season at Northwestern State on April 12 and at Stephen F. Austin on April 14.
