LAKE CHARLES – McNeese used a momentous 12-run sixth inning to earn its second consecutive run-rule victory 19-6 against Dillard's baseball program in seven innings at Joe Miller Ballpark Tuesday afternoon. The Cowboys continue their best start since the 1991 campaign at 10-1 while the Bleu Devils fell to an even 9-9 on the season.
McNeese had its best inning since May 2022 when it plated 10 runs against Houston Christian (formerly Houston Baptist at the time) with the 12-run sixth inning. The team held a 7-6 advantage heading into the bottom half and earned all 12 runs on five hits.
McNeese and Dillard's offensive battle began early with both teams plating a solo run in the first inning before the Pokes took a 3-1 advantage with two runs in the second.
Â
Dillard cut into the lead by a run in the third before McNeese plated three more runs to regain the lead. The Pokes scored another run in the fourth to make it a 7-2 game before the Bleu Devils brought it back within one in the sixth with a four-run inning. The blue and gold responded with 12 runs of their own on five hits.
