HOUSTON, Texas--- McNeese softball completed its Southland Conference series sweep over Houston Christian Saturday with a 7-3 win to improve to 31-17 overall and 17-4 in the SLC. HCU falls to 13-28 overall and 6-15 in the SLC.
With the series win over HCU, the Cowgirls extend their winning streak to eight games. McNeese returns home next weekend (April 18-19) to host East Texas Baptist for Senior Weekend. The series will begin with a single game Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Seniors

Rylie Bouvier will be honored following Saturday's doubleheader.
McNeese continued its hot hitting by picking up 10 hits in the game, half being extra base hits. The Cowgirls now have recorded at least 10 hits in its last six games and in seven of its last eight games.
Kassidy Chance,
Nyjah Fontenot, and
Rylie Bouvier all led the Cowgirls with two hits apiece with one of their hits coming as a double.
Maddie Taylor picked up the win to improve to 14-6 on the season. The win is Taylor's second of the series. She was also the winner in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.
Taylor allowed one run on four hits, walked three and struck out one in 4.0 innings.
Ryann Schexnayder picked up the save, the seventh this season and ninth of her career, tying the school record held by Emily Vincent who played for the Cowgirls from 2013-16.
McNeese jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning off four hits.
Kassidy Chance started the game with a single to right field then scored on a double to left by Nyja Fontenot. Fontenot put the Cowgirls up 2-0 on a double to left by
Rylie Bouvier. A single by
Reese Reyna moved Bouvier to third, Bouvier stole home for the third McNeese run of the inning.
HCU got on the board with a single run in the third, scoring off a Cowgirl error that sent Heidi Mayturn across the plate.
McNeese added two more runs in the fifth to increase its lead to 5-1. Another HCU error allowed Chance to score for a 4-1 lead then a single by
Rylie Bouvier scored Nyja Fontenot to increase the Cowgirl lead to 5-1.
The final two runs for McNeese came off Jada Munoz's 11
th homerun of the season extending the lead to 7-1.
HCU scored two more runs in the seventh on a pass ball and a RBI ground out.
