LAKE CHARLES.--- McNeese softball, winners of its last 11 games, will begin its week by traveling to No. 9 LSU on Tuesday, April 22. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on SECN+.
This will be the second game between the two teams this season. McNeese had a 2-0 lead against the Tigers in Lake Charles on April 1, but the Tigers scored six runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to win 12-2.
The Cowgirls will end their week in Nacogdoches, Texas in their regular season Southland Conference series at Stephen F. Austin beginning Friday.
McNeese (34-17, 20-4 SLC) are coming off a Southland Conference series sweep over East Texas A&M over the weekend that secured a SLC Tournament bracket play pod in Lake Charles (May 1-4). McNeese outscored the Lions 36-6 and outhit the Lions 33-17 in the series.
Jada Muñoz, this week's Southland Conference Hitter of the Week led the Cowgirls in the series with a .667 batting average and a 1.556 slugging percent. Muñoz was 5 for 9 at the plate with two homeruns, two doubles and nine RBI including seven RBI in the opening game of the series that tied the McNeese single game record. Muñoz currently has a .364 batting average and leads the team with 13 homeruns.
Kassidy Chance leads the Cowgirls with a .396 batting average.

Maddie Taylor (3.39 ERA) leads the team in wins (15-6), strikeouts (50), and innings pitched (109.2).

Kadence Williams is 10-7 on the year with the second-best ERA (3.39) on the team. Williams has tossed 93.0 innings with 19 strikeouts.
Junior
Ryann Schexnayder (5-1) leads the staff with a 3.32 ERA and seven saves on the season. Schexnayder has 43 strikeouts in 82.1 innings.
LSU (36-10, 9-9 SEC) is coming off an SEC series loss at Texas over the weekend where they suffered two walk-off losses. A 7-3 loss in the opening game of the series and a 6-5 walk-off loss in the series finale.
