THIBODAUX – McNeese women's tennis is slated to face Nicholls, the host school, in the opening round of the Southland Conference Tennis Championships at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
The sixth-seeded Cowgirls, sitting at 18-6, 5-4 SLC, learned of their opponent, the 11
th-seeded Colonels (8-13, 1-8 SLC), Saturday afternoon with the winner advancing to face Northwestern State, the third seed, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Both squads met near the end of conference play on April 4 with McNeese taking a 6-1 victory in Lake Charles. The Cowgirls took five of the six singles, and the doubles point in the meeting.
Salome Fluri, a freshman, carries in an 18-match win streak, owning a 21-2 record on the 2025 campaign and sits 9-0 in SLC play. Fluri is tied for the second-most wins in a season by a Cowgirl with the record sitting at 25 matches.

Stella Rundova as the only two undefeated players in SLC action at 7-0 in conference play. Rundova owns an 11-0 season record while holding down the No. 6 singles for the Pokes.
Head coach Sonia Carlson hit a milestone mark in her inaugural season with the Cowgirls, being the first coach to record 16+ wins in her first year at the helm.
The appearance by the Cowgirls will be the fourth consecutive season McNeese has been in the SLC Tennis Championships.
