Easton Dowell lifted McNeese baseball over New Orleans 3-2 Sunday afternoon on a walkoff single as the Pokes swept UNO for the first time since 2018 at Joe Miller Ballpark. The Cowboys rise to 23-5, 11-4 SLC on the season, continuing their best start under head coach

McNeese ties its longest winning streak on the season at eight games, also the longest streak under the guidance of Coach Hill

Dowell, a redshirt sophomore, stepped to the plate with junior
Larry Edwards Jr. on base by a walk, sending the ball out to right field for the game-winning hit. He finished the day 2-for-4 with a double and a triple and one run scored.

Jake Blackwell earned his second victory of the season, throwing for the third time on the weekend.

Both teams put up two scoreless innings before New Orleans earned the first run of the ballgame in the top of the third.

McNeese plated its initial run of the afternoon in the bottom of the fifth as Dowell crossed home on a wild pitch following a triple to get him on base.

The Cowboys scored in the ensuing inning as pinch hitter
Bryce Fontenot, a freshman, hit a single to right field to drive in senior
Marcus Heusohn for the first lead of the day at 2-1.

In the top of the seventh, the Privateers tied it up with an RBI single at two apiece.

McNeese hits the road for the first time in over two weeks Wednesday evening against Houston starting at 6:30 p.m.
