LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball's season came to an end Saturday night in a 6-5 walk off win by Southeastern in the "if necessary" game of the Southland Conference Championship Series finally to punch their ticket to their second straight NCAA Tournament berth.
McNeese (41-20) held a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Lady Lions (48-14) scored three runs on two hits and took advantage of two Cowgirl errors in the inning to pull to within one run.
McNeese, serving as the visitors for the second straight game, got one run back in the top of the seventh on a
Sarah Allen sacrifice fly that scored
Samantha Mundine for the 5-3 lead.
Southeastern did what the Cowgirls had done for its four games in the bracket play, win by a walk-off.
The Lady Lions did just that by scoring three runs on four hits in the bottom of the seventh with former Cowgirl
Brilee Ford picking up the game winning hit with the bases loaded to end the game.
