Cowboys add transfer combo guard Tyshawn Archie

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese men's basketball head coach Bill Armstrong has announced the signing of Tulsa transfer guard Tyshawn Archie.
 
Archie (6-0, 164) is a Houston native who played the last two seasons at Tulsa, averaging 8.3 points and 1.7 assists per game.
 
He scored 9.3 points with 1.9 assists this past season as a sophomore after appearing in 33 games while making 15 starts. As a true freshman, he played in 31 games and averaged 7.2 points per contest.
 
"Tyshawn is incredibly quick with the ball and excels at pushing the pace in transition," said Armstrong. "We believe his speed will be a major asset on both ends of the floor. His shot-making ability and knack for creating opportunities for his teammates make him a real threat in the half court. What stands out most when watching his film is his approach to the game and his natural leadership.
 
"He's the perfect fit for the team we've assembled."
 
In 2024-25, Archie scored in double-figures 16 times with a high of 19 points against UTSA.
 
A three-star recruit by 247Sports, Archie spent his senior year at SPIRE (Ohio) Academy where he averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 assists and two steals per game. He scored a high of 30 points against Florida State University High School.
 
Before his senior season, eh played at C.E. King (Texas) High School and was named the No. 24-ranked player in Texas and the No. 34 combo guard nationally by 247Sports. He earned first team Class 6A All-District honors as a junior. He played with ProSkills (TX) on the AAU circuit and was named second-team Nike EYBL IV in Kansas City, averaging 15.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest.
