Lake Charles – McNeese Soccer (1-3-2) battled to a 3-3 draw against Alcorn State (1-2-1) in a high-energy Sunday afternoon match-up at Cowgirl Field.
The Lady Braves struck first, with Annick Zouma setting up Grace Ambrose for the opening goal in just the 6th minute. The Cowgirls responded with an explosive offensive burst late in the first half, scoring three goals in a span of just three minutes.
McNeese got on the board in the 38th minute when
Rhiannon Maynes-Tourond netted her first goal of the match off an assist from
Vitoria Mitre. Just one minute later,
Karlyn Judge found the back of the net thanks to a well-placed assist from Jaimairis Diaz. The scoring surge continued as Judge returned the favor, assisting Maynes-Tourond in the 40th minute for her second goal of the match.
The Cowgirls carried a 3-1 lead into halftime.
McNeese's defense held strong for most of the second half, but Alcorn State rallied late. Grace Ambrose scored her second goal in the 81st minute to cut the deficit, sparking a momentum shift in the final stretch. The Lady Braves completed the comeback in the 87th minute with an equalizer from Deryn
Doamekpor, leveling the score at 3-3.
