VB: Cowgirl Travel To Houston for Cougar Challenge

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball will travel to Houston, Texas this weekend for the Houston Cougar Challenge, Sept. 19-20.  The tournament marks the final regular season tournament for the Cowgirls who enter Friday's 4 p.m. match against Liberty with a 4-5 record following its 3-1 home win over Southern.
 
Friday's match is the first of the next seven road/neutral matches for the Cowgirls who will return home on Oct. 9 to host Lamar in its Southland home opener.
 
McNeese will also face North Alabama Friday (4 p.m.) and Houston at 7 p.m. Saturday.  The Houston match is the only match that will stream on ESPN+.  All tournament matches will have livestats.

McNEESE NOTES
• Coming off a 3-1 win over Southern on Tuesday to improve to 4-5 on the year.
 
Kayla Wilson led McNeese in the win with her best offensive performance of the season with 16 kills and a .452 hitting percent.
 
Ava Henry ended the match with 12 kills and a .364 hitting percent.
 
• McNeese will travel to Houston, Texas this weekend to take part in the Houston Cougar Challenge, its final regular season tournament.  McNeese will face Liberty (11 a.m.) and North Alabama (4 p.m.) on Friday before facing Houston (7 p.m.) on Saturday.
 
D'Nari Mills continues to lead the team with 111 kills and is second on the team with 103 digs
 
Kinga Ziolkowska leads the team in assists (206) and service aces (11)
 
Jordan Gamble leads the team with 17 blocks.
 
• Head coach Sasha Karelov is in her fourth season with the Cowgirls.
 
• McNeese returns three players from last season (seniors Kayla Wilson and Lauren Fuller and sophomore Corynne Hausler).
 
• The 2025 roster consists of 15 newcomers including eight freshmen.
