LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis began the 2026 season with a dominating 6-0 win over Alcorn (0-1) Wednesday at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.

"I'm very happy with today's showing," said head coach Sonia Carlson. "This team has worked hard every single day since arriving in August and has stayed locked in on their goals. Today was just a small taste of what this season has in store. They showed up prepared, dominant, and with great energy, and we're excited to keep building on this momentum." 

McNeese (1-0) opened the match by winning the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts.

The Cowgirls continued its domination in singles by winning five of the six matches that were completed in straight sets. The Cowgirls only loss five games on the day

Sophomore Salome Fluri extended her winning streak to 20 wins dating back to last seasons.

McNeese will travel to Sam Houston on Friday, Jan. 30 for 1 p.m. match then will return home on Monday, Feb. 2 to host Lubbock Christian at 10 a.m.  Monday's home match will be the last home match until March 7.
