WBB: Cowgirls Set New Program SLC Game Winning Streak Record With Win Over Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas— McNeese women's basketball completed the regular season sweep over Lamar Saturday for the first time since the 2015-16 season in the second part of the Battle of the Border with a 64-52 win to extend its winning streak to 11-games.  The 11-straight Southland Conference wins is the longest SLC winning streak in Cowgirl history.  The win is also the first win in Beaumont since a 76-69 win in 2016.
 
McNeese (18-4, 12-1 SLC) has now won 15 of its last 17 games.  The Cowgirls handed the Cardinals their first home loss of the season (9-1) as they fell to 13-7 overall and 10-3 in the SLC.  The loss snapped the Cardinals (13-7, 10-3 SLC) seven game winning streak and it's also their first home loss of the season.
 
McNeese began the game by scoring the first 11 points and held a 41-19 halftime lead.  McNeese caused Lamar to turn the ball over 22 times and scored 22 points off those turnovers. 
 
Lamar (13-7, 10-3 SLC) got as close as eight points early in the fourth quarter but an 11-2 run by the Cowgirls brought the lead back up to 18 following on of two free throws by Allasia Washington with just under four minutes to play.
 
Nine of the 10 Cowgirls who saw playing time, scored at least two points.  Dakota Howard led all players with 19 points, making 5 of 9 attempts from the field and 9 of 11 from the free throw line.  She ended the game with six rebounds.  Allasia Washington led McNeese with a career high seven steals.
 
Lamar placed three players in double figure scoring.  Shaila Forman came off the bench to score 12 points.  Kamryn Wilson and R'Mani Taylor both scored 10 points apiece. Taliah Hill led all players with 10 rebounds.

• McNeese scored the first 11 points of the game in the first five minutes for a 11-0. 
• The Cowgirls started the game 5 for 8 from the field, Lamar started 0-6 from the field with four turnovers
• Lamar scored its first points of the game on a three-pointer from Wilson with 5:18 left in the quarter
• Lamar ended the quarter on a 9-4 run

• McNeese scored Lamar 7-2 in the first three minutes to take an 11-point (22-11) lead
• McNeese went on a 6-0 run to take a 28-1) on a turnaround jumper by Howard with 4:49 left in the half.
• McNeese took its first 20-point lead on a Chamberlin 3-pointer
• McNeese shot 48.4 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from three-point range and 87.5 percent from the free throw line

3rd QUARTER
• Lamar opened the half outscoring McNeese 12-6 in the first six minutes, but the Cowgirls still held a 15-point lead
• Lamar outscored the Cowgirls 19-8 in the quarter
• The Cowgirls struggled from the field making 2 of 12 from the field and 4 of 6 from the free throw line
• Lamar was 5 of 9 from the field and scored nine of their points in the quarter from the free throw line.

• McNeese outscored Lamar 8-4 in the first five minutes of the quarter to take a 15-point lead with 5:39 left in game
• McNeese went on a 7-0 run to take an 18-point lead with just under four minutes left in the game
