SB: Cowgirls Travel To S. Miss On Tuesday, S. Alabama On Wednesday

LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball (7-4) coming off a 3-3 record over the weekend will travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a 6 p.m. game at Southern Miss (6-5) then will play at South Alabama on Wednesday. First pitch Wednesday is set for 5 p.m.

For the Cowgirls it will be their first true road games of the season, but it won't be their first games away from Cowgirl Diamond.  Last Friday, McNeese traveled to Lafayette, La. to face Ole Miss in what was two neutral site games.

Senior Rylee Cloud, who was named this week's Southland Conference "Hitter of the Week" leads the Cowgirls with a .500 batting average, 14 RBI, and is tied for a team high 14 hits.

Maddie Taylor is batting .464 with 13 hits and 13 RBI while Jada Muñoz leads the Cowgirls with five homeruns and also has 13 RBI.

In the circle, Taylor is 3-0 with a 4.20 ERA and freshman Brookelyn Taylor is 2-0 with a staff low 2.95 ERA and a staff high 14 strikeouts.

Southern Miss, who is coached by former Cowgirl softball player and former McNeese head coach Natalie Poole is in her third season at Southern Miss.  The Eagles are coming off a 2-3 record at the Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida.  Southern Miss picked up wins over Bethune Cookman and Alabama State and lost to Loyola Chicago, Saint John's twice.

South Alabama (7-3) will travel to Baton Rouge Tuesday to face LSU before Wednesday's game against the Cowgirls.  The Jaguars are coming off a 3-2 record at their own Mardi Gras Classic where whey picked up two wins over Western Michigan and one win against UAB.  They also loss to UAB in extra innings and once to Jacksonville State.
