FRISCO, Texas- McNeese Salome Fluri has been named this weekend Southland Conference Women's Tennis "Player of the Week", the league announced Tuesday.
Fluri posted a 4-0 record last week with two singles wins (at No. 1) and two doubles wins (one at No. 1 and one at No.2). She set a new McNeese women's tennis regular season continuous singles winning streak record on Sunday with her 6-4, 7-5 win over UT-Tyler's Yona Bancarel to extend her winning streak to 25 matches dating back to last season. The streak is believed to be the NCAA's longest current regular season continuous winning streak.
Fluri hasn't lost a regular season singles match since Feb. 2, 2025, against UCA. She extended her winning streak to 26 singles matches with a straight set win over Yona Dina Lipovski of Tyler Junior College later Sunday afternoon.
It's the third straight week that a McNeese athlete has won the weekly honor this season and it's the second weekly honor for Fluri this season. She was also named the first SLC "Player of the Week" on Feb. 3.
