SB: Cowgirls Close Out Cajun AC Louisiana Clash With Win Over Middouri

LAKE CHARLES--  McNeese softball ended play at the Cajun AC Louisiana Clash Saturday with a 3-1 overall record after going 1-1 on Saturday.

McNeese (12-5) capped off Saturday night with a 4-1 win over Missouri, its second win over the Tigers (5-10) in tournament play.  McNeese fell 9-1 against Houston Saturday morning.

McNeese outhit the Tigers by a slim margin (7-6).  Nyjah Fontenot and Delaney Dunham had two hits apiece.

Freshman Brookelyn Taylor remained undefeated on the season (4-0) with the complete game win against Missouri.  Taylor tossed a shutout through five innings before the Tigers scored their only run of the game on a solo homerun by Sidney Forrester.

After two and a half scoreless innings, McNeese scored three runs in the third on a RBI single by Jada Muñoz, a Tiger error and a ground out by Maddie Taylor for the 3-0 lead.  The Cowgirls added a run in the fourth on a Delaney Dunham triple that scored Meiko Dominguez for the 4-0 lead.

The Tigers made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning when they had bases loaded with two outs but Taylor got Kayley Lenger to ground out the short to end the game.

McNeese will remain home this coming week to host LSU on Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Iowa on Feb. 26.
