NEW ORLEANS— McNeese women's basketball tied a school record for wins in a season and became the first team to win 20 Southland Conference games in conference history with its 73-49 win over New Orleans Saturday to improve to 26-4 overall and 20-1 in the SLC. The Cowgirls also extended its nations fourth best winning streak to 19 games.
Lexi Alexander led the Cowgirls in scoring with 22 points on 10 of 17 from the field. Alexander missed recording her fourth double double of the season by pulling down nine rebounds.

Avari Berry (10) also scored in double figures for the Cowgirls.
UNO (3-26, 3-18, SLC) was led in scoring by Laurn Banks' 20 points. Mikayla Johnson chipped in with 11 points.
UNO scored the first bucket of the game before McNeese went on a 14-2 run to lead 14-4 with just over four minutes left in the first quarter. McNeese held a 20-9 lead after the first quarter.
The Cowgirls continued its defensive intensity in the second quarter and turned those turnovers into points, several coming off steals and layups. McNeese scored 25 of its first half 45 points off 23 UNO turnovers.

The Cowgirls scored 55 of its points in the paint and 31 off 34 UNO turnovers in the game and held its largest lead of the game (32 points) with 6:50 left in the third quarter.
