Ana Hollweg has been named this week's Southland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the week, the league announced Tuesday. The weekly honor is Hollwegs third this season and fifth overall for the Cowgirls.
Hollweg posted a perfect 4-0 record this week with two wins in singles and two wins in doubles against Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin to move the Cowgirls into first place in the league standings. The wins also helped extend McNeese's winning streak to nine matches and improved to 14-1 overall.Â
Hollweg's singles wins came on court 4 where she defeated Northwestern State's Martina Acebedo 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 and SFA's Antonella Taco 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) in straight sets to extend her singles winning streak to nine matches.
In doubles, she teamed with
Naomi Hagi to make up the Cowgirls court 3 doubles team where they defeated NW State 7-6 (7-5) and SFA 6-3.
