WTEN: Southland Champs Close Out Regular Season Against UTRGV Monday

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis, the 2026 regular season Southland Conference Champions will host UTRGV on Monday, April 13 in its final regular season match at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center beginning at 11 a.m.

McNeese (20-1, 8-0 SLC) clinched the outright regular season title with its 5-2 home win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday.

The Cowgirl will be looking to become the winningest team in program history with its next win and the first McNeese team to go undefeated in the SLC in program history.  They tied the school record with 20 wins on Saturday and extended their winning streak to 15 matches. 

A win on Monday would tie the longest overall winning streak in program history at 16 and it would also be the longest conference winning streak in school history which they tied on Saturday at eight straight SLC wins.

UTRGV enters the match with a 5-14 overall record and 3-5 SLC record and are coming off a 6-1 road loss at Southeastern on Saturday.
 
McNEESE NOTES
• Won the SLC Regular season outright title on Saturday with 5-2 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, only the second title in program history
• The outright title is the first in program history. 
• The Cowgirls were co-champs in 2018
• The 20 wins is tied for the school record
• The 15-match winning streak is one win away from tying the program longest winning streak of 16
• The eight SLC wins is tied for the third most in program history- 10 SLC wins is the record (2014, 2018)
• A win on Monday and the Cowgirls will be the first McNeese women's team to go undefeated in conference in program history.
• The eight match SLC winning streak is tied for the longest in program history.  The 2018 team also had an SLC eight match winning streak.
