LAKE CHARLES- McNeese softball wasted little time in picking up a 10-0 run-rule win over Houston Christian in the opening game of its Southland Conference series Tuesday night to improve to 27-17 overall and 11-8 in the SLC. HCU falls to 6-33 overall and 3-16 in the SLC with the loss. The series will conclude with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday.
McNeese scored at least two runs in the first four innings of the game, scoring two in the first, second, and fourth innings and scored four runs in the third inning.
The Cowgirls outhit the Huskies 9-3 with five of the nine hits being extra base hits.
Kassidy Chance,
Maddie Taylor, and
Jada Muñoz all led McNeese with two hits apiece. Both of Muñoz's hits were extra base hits, a two RBI homerun in the second inning, her sixth homerun this season, and a double in the third inning as she ended the game with four RBI.
Alexis Dibbley hit her seventh homerun of the season while
Maddie Taylor and
Meiko Dominguez each had one double.

B3- The Cowgirls scored four runs on four hits and took advantage of one Husky error to lead 8-0.
Meiko Dominguez's two RBI double to left center scored Taylor and
Maddie Weeks who both reached base on singles. Munoz picked up her second hit of the game with a double to right center that scored both Weeks and Dominguez. (McN 8, HCU 0)
B4- Two more Cowgirl runs came on two hits. A Taylor ground out scored Chance from third and an
