LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball picked up a 4-3 win over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night at The Jeaux.
With the win, the Cowboys improve to 22-19 overall (10-11 Southland Conference), while the Bulldogs fall to 24-18 overall (11-7 Conference USA). McNeese remains at home this weekend to host UTRGV in a three-game conference series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. All games will stream live on ESPN+.
Louisiana Tech struck first in the opening inning when Wesley Scott drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing in Trey Hawsey for a 1-0 lead.
McNeese responded in the third inning, plating three runs to take control. Connor Walker got things started with an RBI double to right-center field, scoring Easton Dowell to tie the game. Danny Barbero followed with a sacrifice fly to left-center to bring home Walker, and Hayden Stringfellow added an RBI single to right field to score Matt Stancliff and give the Cowboys a 3-1 advantage.
The Bulldogs evened the score in the sixth inning with two runs. Casey McCoy drove in a run on a groundout before Reid Snider delivered an RBI single up the middle to tie the game at 3-3.
McNeese broke the tie in the eighth inning when Marcus Heusohn lifted a sacrifice fly to right-center field, scoring Isaiah Keller for the go-ahead run.
Jake Blackwell earned the win in relief, improving to 6-0 after allowing two hits over one inning.
Eric Nachtsheim secured the victory in the ninth, earning his third save of the season while allowing one hit and striking out two.
Louisiana Tech reliever Luke Nicholls took the loss, allowing one run on three hits over the final two innings.
