LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball scattered 10 hits in its 4-3 midweek win over UL-Lafayette Tuesday night in its regular season home finale to improve to 32-18 overall. The Cajuns fall to 25-23 overall with the loss.
Kassidy Chance continued her hot hitting by leading the Cowgirls with a 3 for 4 plate appearance and scored two runs.
Rylee Cloud and
Meiko Dominguez both ended the game with two hits apiece. Cloud accounted for three of the four Cowgirl RBIs.
Brookelyn Taylor picked up her 11
th win of the season to improve to 11-6 overall while
Maddie Taylor picked up her second save of the season in relief of Brookelyn. Brookelyn allowed two unearned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Maddie allowed one run on two hits in 2.0 innings.
McNeese used the first two innings to score all four runs, taking the early lead in the first inning with a single run on one of Cloud's RBI singles. The Cowgirls added three runs in the second inning on four hits. Cloud struck against with a two out two-RBI single to center that scored Chance and Dibbley for the 3-0 lead. Maddie brought Cloud home on a single to short for the 4-0 lead.
The Cajuns scored two runs in the third on a Kennedy Marceaux two RBI double to cut the Cowgirl lead in half.
Neither team would score for the next three innings until the Cajuns added a run in the seventh on a two out solo homerun by Haley Hart. After a double to left field by Mia Liscano, who represented the tying run, Taylor got Brooke Otto to fly out to right field to end the game.
McNeese will head to East Texas this weekend to face East Texas A&M in its final regular season Southland Conference series with a chance to finish the season in second place and the right to host one of the SLC Championship Bracket Play.
