Cowboys Pick Up 4-1 Win at Grambling

GRAMBLING – McNeese baseball picked up a 4-1 midweek win over Grambling on Tuesday, powered by a dominant pitching performance that featured 15 strikeouts.

With the win, the Cowboys improve to 17-16 overall (7-8 Southland Conference) and will return home to host UIW in a weekend conference series after their scheduled midweek game against Dillard was canceled earlier in the day.

The game remained scoreless through four innings before McNeese broke through in the fifth. Marcus Heusohn got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing home Connor Walker for a 1-0 lead.

Hayden Stringfellow followed with an RBI single to right field, driving in Danny Barbero and DJ Pinkerton to extend the lead to 3-0.

McNeese's pitching staff held Grambling scoreless through seven innings before the Tigers got on the board in the eighth via a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Cowboys added an insurance run in the ninth when Walker delivered a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Easton Dowell to make it 4-1.

The McNeese pitching staff was dominant throughout, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out 15.
