LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball (0-3) will continue play on the road when they will travel to Lafayette Tuesday to face UL-Lafayette (0-2).  First serve is set for 6 p.m. at Earl K. Long Gym. 
 
The Cajuns hold a 42-16 all-time record over the Cowgirls.  Tuesday's match marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2019 when the Cajuns defeated the Cowgirls in five sets in Lafayette.
 
Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season.  McNeese is coming off losses to Miami (OH.), Cal State Fullerton and Sam Houston last weekend at the Bearkat Invitational.
 
UL-Lafayette is coming off losses against Oklahoma and Texas State last weekend at the Texas State Invitational.

McNEESE TEAM NOTES
• McNeese head coach Tayler Gray made her collegiate coaching debut against Miami (OH) Aug. 28 at the Sam Houston Bearkat Invitational
• McNeese will be looking for its first win of the season after going 0-3 at the Sam Houston Bearkat Invitational last weekend.
• McNeese will play its first nine matches on the road to begin the season before its home opener on Sept. 17.
• McNeese will take part in three regular season tournaments- the Bearkat Invitational (Aug. 28-29), the Rice Invitational I (Sept. 4-5) and will host its Cowgirl Classic (Sept. 17-19).
• The Cowgirls will play 11 home matches this season, eight of which will be conference matches
• McNeese was picked to finish ninth in the Southland Conference preseason poll

• Sophomore Ava Henry leads the team with 27 kills and six blocks
• Senior Megan Grose has a team high 45 assists and four aces
• Freshman Sophia Tocmo leads the team with 39 digs
• Transfer Gabbie Maldonado was named to the Sam Houston Bearkat all-tournament team
• McNeese returns nine players from last season (Corynne Hausler, Carli Banks, Maleah Mutterback, Sophie Twigg, Bailey Foolkes, Mary-Alice Dohmann, Neal Grace Berry, Kayla
Wilson, Ava Henry) from last season and one from its 2024 team (Megan Grose).
• Three transfers made their debut as Cowgirls (Gabbie Maldonado, Harmony Soles, Harmony Jackson) at the Sam Houston Bearkat Invitational
• Four freshmen made their collegiate debut (Sophia Tocmo, Danyele Wallace, Gaby Santiago, Aaniyah Kitchen) at the Sam Houston Invitational.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
UL-Lafayette
• Will also be looking for its first win of the season after losses to Oklahoma and Texas State at the Texas State Invitational last weekend
• It's the Cajuns home opener and the first of three home matches this week
• Three Cajuns have 10 or more kills.  Sarah Schnell leads the team with 18 kills.
