LAFAYETTE— McNeese volleyball couldn't overcome the offensive power of UL-Lafayette coupled by its own offensive struggle in a its 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-15) loss Tuesday night
With the loss, McNeese falls to 0-4 on the season while the Cajuns pick up its first win of the season to improve to 1-2.
Ava Henry led the Cowgirls with eight kills and a .500 hitting percent in the match. Henry was errorless in 16 attempts.
Megan Grose dished out 14 assists while
Sophia Tocmo led the defense with 13 digs.
The Cajuns were led by Lolo Lambert's match high 12 kills and Lindsey Henry's five blocks.
McNeese will travel to Houston, Texas this weekend to take part in the Rice Invitational.
Set 1:
• McNeese held a 16-14 lead following a
Corynne Hausler ace.
• The Cajuns then outscored the Cowgirls 5-1 to take a 19-17 lead.
• McNeese scored the next two points on kills
Carli Banks and
Aaniyah Kitchen to even the set at 19 apiece.
• A
Megan Grose kill tied the set at 26 then the Cajuns won the set 28-26 with kills by Lolo Lambert and Sophia Armstrong.
Set 2:
• The Cajuns jumped out to a 3-1 lead and then extended the lead to 5-2
• Three straight points by the Cowgirls tied the match at five apiece
• The Cajuns scored 12 of the next 14 points to take a 17-9 lead
• McNeese scored the next four points to cut the lead to four (17-13)
• The Cajuns went on the take the set 25-18 to lead the match 2-0
Set 3:
• McNeese scored the first point of the set but after a kill by Lambert for a Cajun 3-2 lead, ULL never gave up the lead
• Leading 9-6, the Cajuns went on a run to extend its lead to 15-9
• The Cajuns went on to outscore the Cowgirls 10-6
